Do You Know That We Can Now Measure The Impact Of Your Purchases ? It Is Now Possible With Our Eco-Passport !
On a global scale, the overall consumption of resources and the emission of pollutants are increasing. This trend is linked to the development of highly populated countries, to population growth in general and to changes in our lifestyles (over-packaging, short-lived products, etc.). It is urgent to reduce our consumption of resources.
To promote the environmental benefits (real or perceived) of products, manufacturers and distributors can use labels.
But how do we define an eco-product? What are the distinctive signs of ecological quality?
The Eco-passport responds to consumers' requests for information, allowing them to better compare products. It is an easy and transparent way to see the impact of your purchase.
Here at Sustainable Makers, we support conscious buying and want every customer to know what they are shopping for.
We work with 4 impacts: social, cultural, environmental, and economic, and several categories aggregated to them.
Within every product page you will find the symbols that illustrate the categories in each impact.
Look for these symbols and find out what impact this product has:
SOCIAL IMPACT
-Social projects: A social project is one that aims to change the living conditions of the people. The intention is that the project improves the daily life of society as a whole or, at least, of the most disadvantaged social groups. Typically, a social project aims to satisfy a basic need of people (education, housing, health or employment).
-Fair trade: Fairtrade is a system of certification that aims to ensure a set of standards are met in the production and supply of a product or ingredient. For farmers and workers, fair trade means workers’ rights, safer working conditions and fairer pay. For shoppers it means high quality, ethically produced products.
CULTURAL IMPACT
-Handmade: products made by hand that promote and foster traditional crafts.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
-Sustainable Innovation: products that save resources, such as the amount of raw material, waste, energy, and water, through innovation in production, processes, materials or solutions.
-Natural Materials: products made with ecological materials, such as renewable raw materials with low environmental impact in their life cycle or products with an organic certification.
-Recycling and Reuse: products that are designed with the possibility of being recycled, repaired or reused. These products are processed from recycling materials or by-products.
-Upcycling: products made of used materials that are not subjected to a new treatment and transformation. Instead, they are used for other purposes.
-Vegan: Products that do not use any type of materials or ingredients of animal origin. These products are made from plants or use a sustainable alternative. They are never tested on animals.
-Cruelty Free: products produced and developed by methods which do not involve cruelty to animals.
-Organic: products that are made from organic materials. These products must protect natural resources, conserve biodiversity and use only approved substances.
-Non-Toxic: Products that don’t contain ingredients that have been linked to toxic responses in humans.
ECONOMIC IMPACT
-Local Production: Products that sustain local communities and are made locally, with sensitivity to place and scale. These items provide new job opportunities while preserving the quality of the environment.
